Our Story
Three generations. One mission: bringing the freshest milk from our farm to your family.
Where It All Began
Founded in 1965
Longmont Dairy was started by Reese Boatman, Karl Obluda, and Jim Boyd with a small processing plant, a small dairy herd, and an old milk truck. They milked the cows by 6:00 a.m., processed the milk the same day, and delivered it cold and fresh by 6:00 a.m. the following morning.
That commitment to freshness — from cow to bottle to doorstep in under 24 hours — has defined every generation of our family business.

Three Generations of Family Pride
1965 - 1988
First Generation
Jim Boyd, Reese Boatman & Karl Obluda
Three founders built the dairy from scratch with a small herd, a processing plant, and a single milk truck. They established the tradition of same-day processing and next-morning delivery that continues today.
1988 - 2015
Second Generation
David & Susan Boyd
David, son of co-founder Jim Boyd, and his wife Susan reorganized the company and introduced the innovative "speed route" concept — once-a-week overnight deliveries that kept home glass bottle delivery alive and thriving.
2015 - Present
Third Generation
Katie Copeland & Dan Boyd
After five years of training alongside their parents, Katie and Dan became co-owners. They've expanded partnerships with local companies, completed a major plant renovation, and added cold brew coffee and tea to the lineup.

What We Stand For
Pride in Our Cows,
Pride in Our Milk
We are one of only two or three remaining dairies in Colorado that sell milk directly from our own cows to customers. Our cows receive the best care and quality feed, with no supplemental rBST growth hormones. We bottle at our own local plant, controlling the quality of the entire process.
Every bottle of milk is unconditionally guaranteed — until you drink it.
Sustainability
Glass Bottles,
Zero Waste
Our reusable glass bottle program is at the heart of what we do. Each bottle is returned, professionally cleaned, sanitized, and refilled — reducing waste and keeping plastic out of landfills. It's how dairy delivery was done for generations, and we're proud to keep that tradition alive.

Milk Caps for Mooola
Our fundraising program turns bottle caps into real money for Colorado schools. Each cap is worth 5 cents, and schools use the funds for field trips, sports equipment, art supplies, and more.
